Established by Henry Donohue in 1966, Coldon Homes has been building premium homes in Bass Coast and South Gippsland for over half a century. A modest man from humble beginnings, it was through sheer tenacity and hard work that Henry became one of the most successful businessmen in the history of Wonthaggi. He loved a challenge and had a fierce work ethic, owning a number of small businesses in the region over the years. Whilst running his own house removal business, he had the idea of building new homes in a factory and transporting them to their new site. 

Henry approached legendary local builder, Bill Collins, who agreed to join with him, and so Coldon Homes was born. The partners produced their first factory-built in June 1960, and from that point on the business flourished. Within 20 years it had become the largest builder of homes in regional Victoria and one of the nation’s leading volume builders.  Today, we are still one of Victoria’s largest builders and coastal home specialists. In the five decades since the establishment of Henry’s building and hardware enterprises, Coldon Homes has employed hundreds of people, and built over 8,000 homes – not to mention a school, post office, bank and a variety of commercial buildings.
